Ebonie Atkins

Managing Director, Henrico Economic Development Authority

Ebonie Atkins is a Managing Director for the Henrico Economic Development Authority where she assists companies at every stage of development from Fortune 1000 to mid-sized to start-up companies. She joined the EDA in 2020, where she plans and directs business retention activities which include outreach to Henrico businesses and managing the expansion of existing industries including ASGN, Coca-Cola Consolidated, SimpliSafe, and others.

Prior to joining the Henrico EDA, she served as a Business Investment Manager for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership where she worked one-on-one with companies and consultants bringing over two thousand new jobs and $27 million in capital investment to the Commonwealth.

Ebonie has made a commitment to serving the community by operating in the public sector. She has worked at the federal, state, and local levels. With over 15 years of combined career experience in public economic development, higher education and banking, she has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in project management, the site selection process, and strategic planning.

Ebonie has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Michigan and a master’s in urban and regional planning from Virginia Tech.

She is an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University where she teaches the fundamentals of economic development and the key factors that contribute to an area’s economic competitiveness.
